After filling out the pre-travel form, we will let you know the recommended follow-up (whether it be to stop in for travel vaccines during walk-in lab hours, to establish care, or to follow-up with a local travel clinic for more specialized needs).
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of travel consultations, so we try to handle the majority of your travel needs via messaging in order to avoid office visit fees.
Coverage for travel clinic charges varies between plans, so we recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about your specific plan. Routine vaccinations are typically covered by most insurance plans, but many do not cover the cost of travel vaccines or medications. Note that many HSA and FSA plans will reimburse you for these charges. Whatever your situation may be, our team will be happy to help you submit a claim for reimbursement any time it’s appropriate.
It takes two weeks to build up immunity after receiving a vaccine, so ideally we recommend to reach out 3 weeks prior to traveling if not sooner.
Tracking down your previous records from any outside travel clinics is the best way for our medical team to confirm what vaccines you need prior to your trip. If you’re not able to get a hold of these records, there is not harm in receiving vaccines again - typically your safest course of action is to re-vaccinate.
