Public Housing and RAD

HABC offers safe, decent, and affordable housing to eligible low-income families and individuals through our Public Housing program. HABC owns and operates approximately 7,000 public housing units throughout Baltimore City. The agency also provides affordable housing through its Rental Assistance Program (RAD), which includes nearly 3,745 additional units. HABC’s offers a range of housing options for residents of public housing including high-rise buildings, low-rise walk-up buildings, and scattered site single-family homes.

Residents in Public Housing pay rent based on their monthly income and certain expenses, like childcare. Generally, rent is about 30% of a resident’s monthly adjusted income.

The waiting list for public housing is currently closed. We are no longer accepting new applications to public housing.

CONGRATULATIONS!

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) is pleased to announce that it will accept all 29,812 applications received during the opening period of its Public Housing, Senior Housing, and Mixed-Population waiting lists. This decision was based to effectively broaden housing opportunities and to further fair housing to low-income families in Baltimore City.
